Any help is greatly appreciated. I had a friend try on his phone as well with no luck. This one just has me stumped. Thanks.

Did you try to connect to your server using a webbrowser?
Can you log in?
Are there songs in the library?
Can you play songs from your webbrowser?
Perhaps updating Java to Version 8 Update 111 might help?
Perhaps an issue with your router?
Ever tried to delete the current portmapping in your router, rebooting it and configuring the portmapping again?

Yes, I can connect on my phone via a webbrowser (Chrome) and play songs.

The app works in every way other than streaming. I can log in, refresh the media

updating Java has no effect.

I read somewhere on this forum that sometimes the problem is the portmapping in your router. The procedure would be to delete all portmappings in your router to your Subsonic-server, rebooting the router and configuring the portmappings again.
I never let Subsonic configure the portmappings but did it myself.
That's the only thing that comes to mind at this time.

holy crap it finally works.

Strange that the portmapping would randomly become an issue when it never had been before.

thanks

aaand it doesn't work yet again.

deleted and redid the port mapping, no luck.

unbelievable.

It's incredibly frustrating that this worked for many years, then there were some "upgrades" and it works like dogpiss now.

Since it has worked, I suggest you check the Ip-configuration of your subsonic-server.
Can you log in locally on the server?
Did you try a portscan? http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scan/
Does the portmapping point to the correct -ip-adress?
Did you reboot your router?
Anything in the logfiles?

Can you acces your server from within your local network?
What does Subsonic say about your network status?
Under Settings >> Network does it say Status: Successfully registered web address. ?
And one more question: Do you have subscriptions to podcasts?
It seems that that can corrupt your database which leads to all sorts of errors and problems.

I can view the artist and file list, refresh, search, etc on my phone from within and out of my local network. the only thing that does not work is streaming. I can access everything perfectly on the computer.

Status: Successfully registered web address.

I have no podcast subscriptions

Do you have a way to check if streaming via any webbrowser works? Edge, Firefox, Chrome Safari?
If that's working fine I guess the error / problem lies in the android app.

The phone webbrowser works fine for streaming.

I suppose my next step is to remove/reinstall the app. again.

I understand. It can be frustrating if you're seemingly in an endless loop of installing, removing and reïnstalling an app to get things working.
IS there no alternative to the Android-app?
