Subsonic title differs from id3

Problem Description: I renamed the titles of an album's tracks in their id3v2, and Subsonic continues to show the old, different titles. Does Subsonic store metadata elsewhere?
Troubleshooting Steps: Tried double-checking all metadata using eyeD3 and kid3 for Mac; does not show the titles Subsonic uses. Tried editing tags in Subsonic, and there it shows all the old titles, but does not give an option to pull from the id3. I searched the forum for how Subsonic handles metadata but came up empty.
Playback Application and version: iSub on iPhone / iPad, browser, Sonos ...
Subsonic Version: 6.0 (build a7857c) – April 30, 2016
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_40, Linux (74.5 MB / 146.1 MB)
Hardware Platform: Ubuntu (14.10 or so?)

sometimes the ID3 cached for a file is time-stamped not by the file itself but rather the folder it is in. if the folder hasn't changed, a re-scan won't dig into the contents to see if individual files have changed. one option is to rename the parent folder, run a scan, name it back to the original, scan again.

Huh I never would have guessed, thanks. Where is this cached? Is there a general way to get it to rescan?

The info is cached in the database. Re-tagging files listed in Subsonic with an external program like MP3Tag, is not a good idea since Subsonic doesn't register the changes.
The only way to force Subsonic to re-scan the folder is by either:
1. temporarily moving it to another location, do a folderscan, cleanup database, move the folder back and perform a new folderscan. Or
2. rename the folder like Acroyear said and than do a folderscan, cleanup database, move the folder back and perform a new folderscan.

Yes, you're right. It's a lot of work just to get Subsonic to register your mediafiles properly, bu I guess Sindre made it that way to make sure that scanning large collections doesn't take hours to complete. If you change tags with the tagging feature within Subsonic, changes are registered immediatly.
