Installing Subsonic 6.0 on Ubuntu 16.04

Hi all,
According to installation instructions on Subsonic web page Ubuntu installation should be:
- First, install Java: sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre
- Download the Subsonic .deb package and install it: sudo dpkg -i subsonic-x.x.deb
Unfortunatley open JDK version 7 is no longer included in Ubuntu 16.04. and Subsonic does not seem to work with open JDK version 8 or 9. (When version 8 or 9 is installed I can connect to the subsonic server on localhost:4040 but the browser window remains blank.)
Is anybody facing the same problem or has anybody successfully run Subsonic with open JDK 8 or 9? Your feedback would be highly apreciated.
Anyways installation instruction page should be updated.

Cheers Jochen

Figured it out by myself:
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openjdk-r/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk
sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-1.7.0-openjdk-amd64

Last step is required to activate OpenJDK Java 1.7

See http://askubuntu.com/questions/761127/how-do-i-install-openjdk-7-on-ubuntu-16-04-or-higher for details.

Cheers Jochen

It's working with Oracle Java 8 as well.
