Cache next track

Postby evandena » Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:58 am

Hello,
Is it possible to start caching the next track while the current track finishes playing? On slower connections I am forced to wait 25+ seconds after a track finishes to start caching the current one.

Thanks!

If you play with an external player you might have an option of how long to cache.

I know Media Player will cache past the current song. I dont like Media Player myself, but it does do this.

Thanks for the reply.

So there is no current way to have the web player cache like this?

I think most users would be annoyed if the player did do that *and* that the playlist then would indicate the next song to be playing before it actually was playing.

That was the most annoying thing I experienced when I used Windows Media Player as an external player. Maybe this have improved now, I do not know.

Also if the player was to cache the next song, then the "Now Playing" list most likely would not show whats actually playing anymore.

Probably it would be possible to work around that can of worms, but I believe it would require quite some effort to add this caching, whitout introducing a lot of new problems.
