Windows 10 v1703 plus Sonos

Postby Chriff » Sun Apr 30, 2017 4:37 am

Hello. Subsonic premium has been working amazingly for a long time for me on windows 10 in conjunction with my sonos system. Today I took advantage of the windows 10 creators update which upgraded me to windows 10 version 1703 everything seemed fine so I deleted the down grade option to recover some SSD disk space. I then tried running sonos and it connects ok as far as username and password but when I go to play music it says unable to browse music.

I've tried resetting the network adapter. Reinstalling sonos controller. Reinstalling subsonic. Starting and stopping the sonos server in subsonic. Changing the server name. Removing the subsonic sonos service from sonos controller and reading and nothing I do works.

Subsonic is installed on the same computer I've also installed the sonos windows controller on. I cannot browse the library on the controller or on my iPhone like I used to be able to.

I'm wondering if anyone else has a similar setup and are experiencing the same problems and has figured out a fix?

Thanks
Chris

Hi all,

I'm not sure why this is happening but I'm able to get my system back to work using these advanced configuration options found at: http://www.subsonic.org/pages/sonos.jsp

Using a remote Subsonic server
Subsonic automatically configures Sonos players on your local network. If Subsonic and Sonos are not on the same network you can still connect them, using a manual one-time registration procedure. Make sure you have the IP address of the Sonos player and Subsonic server available. You can find the Sonos IP by selecting About my Sonos System in the Sonos controller app.

Open http://SONOS_IP:1400/customsd.htm in a browser.
Enter the following values in the web form:
SID – Any legal value except 242
Service Name – Any name, for instance "Subsonic Remote"
Endpoint URL – http://SUBSONIC_IP:4040/ws/Sonos?ip=SUBSONIC_IP
Secure Endpoint URL – http://SUBSONIC_IP:4040/ws/Sonos?ip=SUBSONIC_IP
Polling Interval – 1200
Authentication – Session ID
Strings Table – Version: 6, URI: http://SUBSONIC_IP:4040/sonos/strings.xml
Presentation Map – Version: 3, URI: http://SUBSONIC_IP:4040/sonos/presentationMap.xml
Container Type – Music Service
Capabilities – Search, Favorites, User Content Playlists, Extended Metadata

Not sure why this would work and not the standard way of enabling the system as my network setup has not changed and both the Sonos and Subsonic install are on the same network, subnet etc.

Anyway, using the advanced manual sonos service setup for subsonic did the trick. Maybe resetting my Sonos system could have done the trick too. I'll leave it for now since its back up and call it a night.
