Songs randomly stop playing right before the end

Postby Jargs » Fri May 19, 2017 4:52 pm

<-------------------------Subsonic Help Request---------------------->
Problem Description: Probably about 10% of the time, the song I am listening to will just stop a few seconds from the end. The play/pause button changes to the spinning loading graphic, and nothing else happens, even if I let it sit for a while. The only way to continue is to either play another song from my library, or click on next or previous track.
Troubleshooting Steps: Not sure where to start, so I haven't tried anything yet.
Playback Application and version: Web interface version 6.0 (build 830afc)
Subsonic Version: 6.0 (build 830afc) – April 30, 2016
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_31, Windows 8 (60.0 MB / 145.0 MB)
Hardware Platform: Windows 10
Java Memory Limit: 145MB
Problem Filename: Occurs with many different files, but the most recent one is "12 - Credits.mp3"
Output from ffmpeg -i: I'm away from the server computer at the moment, so I'll try to add this later.

I am having the same issue but using 6.1 beta2 (jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_131, HSQLDB, Windows 7 (69.9 MB / 147.1 MB)).

I noticed many songs stop with 1 second left to play. I just get the spinning wheel. I have a few albums that will always advance. I'm assuming there is some embedded metadata that doesn't get read correctly.

Typical non-advancing songs:
Code: Select all
[5/22/17 11:51:49 AM CDT]   DEBUG   StreamController   GET /stream?player=7&id=12507&auth=1548971481&scrobble=false, Range: bytes=0-

This songs advance just fine:

I'm also seeing this issue. Subsonic 6.1.1 (build fc853b) Windows 2016. Seems to have started after upgrading to 6

I have updated c:\subsonic\ffmpeg.exe to version 3.3.2. If that doesn't cure it then I'll report back.

Have you verified the flac file directly using a player?
I assume the file is OK but worth a check.
Wonder if your reverse proxy or something else is truncating the stream to your client.

I have the same problem. Also I don't think it has to do with FLAC files being corrupt, since it worked fine before.

I also have this problem and it is super annoying. It only happens with the Web player.

Someone mentioned that the reverse proxy might be an issue. Question: wouldn't that affect all players, not just the web player?

I'm having the same issue, though I thought it was related to using an external database, i.e. PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc. I was able to get the songs to transcode and play when using the built-in Subsonic database...

Here is the error from the Chrome console.

Code: Select all
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 502 ()     VM98 playQueue.view:1078 stream?player=1&id=29536&auth=208937107&scrobble=false

It seems that my proxy server (IIS) is getting a bad response or dropped connection to Subsonic. Both are on the same server, so I am not sure what could cause a dropped connection. I restarted IIS and it is still happening.

I am getting a different error in the Chrome console:
Code: Select all
GET http://10.0.1.15:4040/stream?player=1&id=2139&auth=123945414&scrobble=false net::ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH_MISMATCH

That error repeats itself over and over until the track is skipped; that error also seems to coincide with the repeated transcoding messages in the Subsonic log. Interestingly enough, this issue does not occur unless the track is being transcoded (using either FFMpeg or FLAC + LAME); if I play the FLAC files that I'm experiencing this issue with directly in Subsonic, i.e. removing the FLAC transcoding instructions, the tracks advance/play without issue.

EDIT: even more interesting that the same issue doesn't appear to be happening in the same playlist location using Firefox; Firefox is able to advance to the next song in my setup, only to stop on song 2 instead of 1...

For me it also happens in the web player on Chrome. But it also happens for me when using SubFire (which uses the API as far as I understood it) on the InternetExplorer.

Another thing I noticed in the web player on Chrome is, that when I hit pause and resume after a few minutes the song won't continue and I have to jump to the next or previous song to continue the playback, this wasn't the case before. (when I resume shortly after I press pause it does continue though)

Maybe we can get a developer to weigh-in on this issue? It sounds like the issue is with Subsonic itself since multiple people on different platforms are having the same experience.

I had the same issue setting it on a RPI3 (hoping to conserve power - and set up a DAC driven player). Abandoned the effort (though now I am getting error 503 on both my power systems (Linux and Windoze), so I am planning on giving this another shot).
