Another Error 503

Postby drosvon » Thu Jun 08, 2017 11:59 pm

Hey guys, just updated to 6.1.1 and I can't seem to access my server anymore. Nothing else changed, try to open the server and I get HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable. Tried the database reset, tried a full uninstall/reinstall, checked router settings, all is good. db folder no longer has a subsonic.script file and I can't get the interface to launch at all anymore. Any help appreciated.

I had the same issues... I had to go back to version 5.3 to get Subsonic back up and running. Once I got it running - I could upgrade to 6.0 - but 6.1 and 6.1.1 have both failed to properly install.

Thanks for the input. Just uninstalled again and tried installing 5.3 to see if that would solve the problem. No luck. Anybody? Just paid for another year... can't even use it.

Well... I just tried to upgrade again to 6.1.1 and it still fails. I again uninstalled and deleted the subsonic folder and reinstalled 5.3 and got it back working, and upgraded to 6.0 again. System is back up and running and once again scanning my media folders adding content back in.

I'm wondering if it is a Java issue? I am running jre-6u37-windows-i586 because in the past with Subsonic if my system upgraded beyond that the server failed. I can't seem to find any FAQ regarding which version of Java needs to be installed.

My install is on a Windows 7 system. I've had Subsonic installed and running stable for many years and all the previous upgrades went smoothly. With version 6.1 and 6.1.1 I have tried upgrading my existing system multiple times and have to completely reload the system by going back to 5.3 at least half a dozen times. I also just tried to delete and run the 6.1 and 6.1.1 installs without doing an upgrade and it fails giving me the same 503 error.

A couple times it appeared to install and start the server only to give me a jetty error and when I looked at the C:\subsonic directory... the jetty folder was deleted and never re-installed on those attempts.

Need to look at the system error log.
Could be version of java or memory not sufficient

I am having the same error. Java 7 is no longer available - the current java version is Java 9. Help!

Further information. I have been running for quite a while, and it broke when I upgraded to ubuntu 17.04 I have deleted, uninstalled the program. After the latest reinstall, the only directory under /var/subsonic are:

jetty subsonic_sh.log transcode

Where is db?

Same issues here. Everything stopped after latest subsonic upgrade. Tried uninstall/reinstall and same with java updates --- tried moving to an earlier version of subsonic as mentioned.... still no luck. Current state has most recent java and most recent subsonic but still does not work. I get a 503 with zero access to subsonic interface.

Any suggestions?

I have resolved my issue. I rolled my Subsonic back to 5.3 and I also tried 6. The thing I had not tried, however, was what someone mentioned in a post above this - deleting the Subsonic database files left after uninstalling the program. It was keeping the problem and reinstalling around it.

The downside was losing all my user logins, playlists, and podcast subscriptions. If you are able somehow to offload that info, do it before deleting all Subsonic files.

Uninstall. Delete Subsonic files. I installed 5.3 and then went to 6. Staying there. Everything is working swimmingly.

All the best!
