I'm a premium user and have been using Subsonic for years. Today I installed the latest upgrade and it wiped out my entire database. What are the steps to recover this with the new version?

Did you make a backup before you started?

I back it up every night, so a restore to the old version wasn't a problem. However, it's never wiped out the database on an upgrade before. Not sure what the deal is, the install was typical of all the others. I don't prefer to lose all playlists and other associated data I've created over the years.

I had same issue.
@sindre_mehus mentioned it had to do with how the new setup code does cleanup when upgrading older legacy installer setups.
This is one reason I am still on 6.0.beta2 (build ef60a8) – March 20, 2016

Might have to try this again after I figure out the best path to backup and recover the DB on a windows based server I am using.
If I find anything out I will post.

My bad for not having made a backup before upgrading, but I didn't think a stable release would blow away my 8 years of playlists and starred music. Education is expensive I guess. :(

I tried upgrading again, and it blew up my database again. I simply copied the database folder over to the new install and ran a media scan. All is working and no issues so far. A scan is required for the Random home page to display as well as for search to function.
