Disable automatic artist thumbnails?

I just upgraded to 6.1.1 and noticed that little circle thumbnails with artist pictures started appearing whenever I browse to any folder. Looks like it does a Google search for an artist photo or something. I remember something like that appearing in earlier version but there was a way to disable it. I looked in the settings and couldn't find how to disable it. A lot of my artists are niche so the thumbnails are usually wrong. Is there a way to disable these thumbnails?

I have not found any setting that disables the lookup.
On my older setup those images reference
http://img2-ak.lst.fm site
I have not installed the latest version yet but 6.0.beta2 (build ef60a8) has this issue and uses the lst.fm service (404 not found).
Using a debug tool or chrome browser "right click" the missing image and pick "inspect".
Think new version still uses the fm service but the url might give some clues to ask the service providing the images why those images are missing.

That's exactly my issue with Subsonic right now. When I press F12 in Chrome and see the 404 error, I notice that the image is referencing my web server,
https://mywebsite.com/i/u/er234r25u3r9u ... tu430u.png, instead of using the
http://img2-ak.lst.fm site. When I type in the
http://img2-ak.lst.fm with the /i/u/er234r25u3r9u34r34u9r349urtu430u.png directory, it works.
So in a nutshell, Subsonic is trying to use
https://mywebsite.com/i/u/er234r25u3r9u ... tu430u.png instead of
http://img2-ak.lst.fm/i/u/er234r25u3r9u ... tu430u.png which is causing the thumbnails not to appear.
EDIT: This seems to work if you use localhost:port/directory, but not through the reverse proxy.

You guys seem to be misunderstanding my question. I don't care if the image is missing or pulling from wrong URL. I want to disable the whole feature altogether. I DON'T want Subsonic to show artist images at all, I just want it to work like it did before. Here's the screenshot of what I'm talking about:
http://imgur.com/y8gjR4L. I don't want that circle image there at all.

I believe there is no option to disable the thumbnails, In order to disable the thumbnails you need to change the code of the page

Well, that's no good. There needs to be an option to disable it, I don't want Subsonic download artist images for me

@StudentOf33
Looks like the url rewriting is part of your issue.
I protect my setup behind firewall which publishes the subsonic so I don't see this issue.
Possible the rewrite rules can be adjusted on your setup.
On the artist images @tyros2
Post a feature suggestion. Good point to have that as a display option you can toggle on and off.

Agreed. I would like to toggle this off also.
I have a lot of bands that I collect live shows from.
I organize as Band > Year > Live Show.
When I navigate to the "Year", I don't want to see random art for a band that may be called 2013 for example.

i'm in a similar. i don't tag as year, but I did want to subdivide my stuff by Live v Studio, so "Rush -> Live -> A Show of Hands" vs "Rush -> Studio -> Counterparts".
Studio doesn't show anything at all, and Live always shows the band actually named 'Live'. Similar 'bugs' happen when you have CD1 and CD2 folders rather than the two in the same folder with disc number tags in the ID3. The album name becomes the artist name at that folder level.
I think the idea for folder browsing I came up with was that if a folder has songs, then the 'artist' of the folder is the artist of the songs, just like the ID3 does - that is an album (effectively). If a folder has subfolders, then it is not necessarily an artist, then it should look at the artists of the songs below it. if there is only one, then that is the artist. if there is more than one artist, than it is 'various'.
in either case, it should just ignore the folder name unless there's no ID3 present in the songs below it.
BETTER STILL is if we could just drop a small json or xml file in the folder to give cover art and artist (and potentially album) to override whatever the scanner would normally do, or have the folder info configurable in the database via 'edit tags' just like files are.

Like that idea.

I solved this in a brute-force manner by deleting and re-creating fanarttvcache, lastfmcache, and lastfmcache2 then denying access to those folders. I have too many obscure artists in my collection and it's not possible to identify them correctly in an automated fashion with the current system.
