Problem Description: updating past 6.0 (including 6.1 betas and the official 6.1.1 release) breaks web player playback functionality

Hello,

Whenever I upgrade to anything past 6.0 including the betas and the new official 6.1.1 release the Subsonic web player breaks. After I update Subsonic the web player only plays the first track of any album I play. It just spins and spins when the next song comes up. I was hoping it was only going to just be an issue with the betas but I'm afraid not.Downgrading down to 6.0 fixes my issue. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Same problem, but using Server 2012. Tried different transcodes and the only thing that seems to work is stream FLAC without transcoding to MP3.

Many of us are experiencing the same issue across multiple platforms (FreeBSD here), see the following threads:

As suggested, the only work-around I've found so far is to play FLAC files directly i.e. no transcoding. This issue only seems to affect the web player, apps seem to work fine.

This is happening to me too, but oddly it doesn't always hang. Sometimes it'll move on to the next track, sometimes it doesn't. Probably has to do with which cuts require transcoding and which don't.

Since I have unlimited bandwidth and 130 megabits upload speeds at home now after dumping Comcraps, I'm going to turn off transcoding for the web client...

This has apparently been an issue for a number of years, searching "Subsonic content-length" returns a number of results, dating back a few years. At this point, I am not holding out hope that this will be resolved any time soon. Also, the latest beta of Madsonic suffers from the same issue.

It is interesting that this is cross platform. Can we please get a dev to comment?

Bump, hard to believe we haven't had a response from the dev team.

While a workaround is to disable FLAC transcoding for the web player, this is definitely a bug that needs attention. Bump.

Bump. This is getting to be pretty frustrating that so many long time users are having similar issues with no response back from the team. I can't update Subsonic because the web player is broken, so what next? Find a Subsonic alternative? I have been using subsonic exclusively for many years. What a sad way to end things because of a broken update.

It seems obvious that when you combine the amount of people having this issue, and their the lack of response that they just don't give a shit.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked out Airsonic https://airsonic.github.io/? It's a fork of a fork (fork of Subsonic to Libresonic, fork of Libresonic to Airsonic). I'd be curious to see if the problem exists there.

The reason I mention it is that it seems to be under much more active development than Subsonic. I'm currently running Subsonic and Airsonic in parallel.
Once they get a Debian build, I might jump ship, as it does not seem like much has happened with Subsonic since it went closed source.

EDIT: Airsonic works like a charm. Strongly recommended. It actually resolved a few longtime Subsonic issues.
