Many random files not showing up

Problem:For some time now (I think it started after I updated the server, but I am not sure) various songs do not show up at all. I have files structured as music/artist/album and only a few songs of an album will show up, all in the same folder and same file type so there seems to be no reason for some to not show. Does not matter what playback application I use, the server cannot find them.

been having this exact same problem
somehow, it seems my favourite tracks are especially prone to disappearing randomly, all of a sudden
but this may be because these are the files i look for the most ;)

i've been using the following workaround to get the lost tracks back in my database
don't get all excited though... it only seems to be a temporary solution
i've had to do this three times in a couple of weeks now
but at least, it works

1) Stop Subsonic
2) Backup your /var/subsonic/db/subsonic.script file
This file contains a handful of SQL statements that will be used later to recreate your users, media directory settings, etc.
3) Delete the contents of your /var/subsonic/db/ directory
4) Restore your subsonic.script file
5) Start Subsonic
6) In that your media library will now be empty, you'll want to go to "Settings..." "Media Folders..." and click "Scan media folders now"

Posting to confirm I'm having the same issue. I'm running 6.1.1 and I've noticed that new albums I add to my collection will get partially added. It will miss anywhere from 1 to multiple tracks. Scrobbling seems to have broken for me recently as well. I tried rolling back a version as well but it didn't help (ran db cleanup and rescanned after reinstalling 6.1).

+1

The last double CD I added contains 45 tracks of which 23 got added to the database (Version 6.1.1).

Thanks for the fix scienex! I guess I'll wait and see how long it lasts... Even a temporary fix is better than nothing!

Does the fix posted above removed starred tracks? If so is there a way to back up your starred tracks or are they all stored in \subsonic\db\subsonic.data file?

Okay, I seemed to have fixed this same problem. What I did was make new folders for all my media, moved all my stuff into those new folders, enabled Subsonic to see them, and then did a media scan. Everything was back in Subsonic after that. After that, it's up to you, but I moved everything back to their original folders, deleted the dummy ones, and re-scanned. The only thing this did not fix was Playlists. Those were all still fucked, but at least now I can rebuild them. Hope this helps!

Same problem here. This should really be a high priority bug!

I also have an easy way to reproduce this - simply change some metadata on already scanned-in files, such as track numbers, and then do a rescan. After the rescan you will see the album there but changed tracks will all be missing.

I have to confirm that I have this bug too... I've noticed that when I star FLAC files, they disappear almost immediately from all services accessing subsonic, but not MP3s. I also had an issue that broke podcasts that seemed related. I'd love to go premium, but I'm gonna wait until this is fixed :(

This is a major problem with the windows 6.1.1 build. I constantly have database issues ever since updating to this build. It needs to be fixed asap, really takes away from the greatness that subsonic is.

Now the fix posted by scienex is not working.... I can't access subsonic at all through the browser when i do that.... Can anyone confirm if this issue is only on the Windows build? Will likely be switching to linux soon, and it would be awesome if this problem went away when i do... Otherwise will likely be using Madsonic or something....

Having this same issue on a Linux server, songs disappear when metadata such as a song rating is updated.
