Ok to delete temporary subsonic files?

Postby rumremix » Wed Jul 26, 2017 5:35 am

I'm running subsonic on Windows 8 and it has placed 40GB of flac files in my C:\Windows\Temp directory (each of these files is named something like subsonic8603245447050960562.flac).

Needless to say, this is taking up a lot of valuable space. My C drive only has a capacity of 120GB (all my media are on other drives).

I'm wondering what the consequences would be of deleting those files. Also, is there a way to tell subsonic to not eat up every last available byte of my C drive with its temporary files and maybe leave a few GB breathing room for other needs?

Many thanks for any insight.

I think it is fine. Only thing I'd recommend is stopping Subsonic before doing so, then restarting it after, so there's no 'locked' files that block deleting the folder. Restarting subsonic should recreate the folder.

It may be that it is copying the files to a local before transcoding them, and leaving them behind and not cleaning up the mess. I don't keep flac's, but I have had a large cache of temp images from cover art fetches that I've needed to clean up regularly.
