Settings Dissappeared. Can't play songs

I'm so confused.

A couple days ago (after updating to newest subsonic version 6.1.3), I realized that I could no longer play songs. The play buttons disappeared, and I couldn't find the settings for Subsonic in my web browser. I tried everything to fix this, including downgrading Subsonic. No luck.

In an act of desperation I deleted all of my local settings files and created a new user on Subsonic. Seemed to work.

Today I log on and it's now showing THE SAME THING! I can't play any songs, either on the web browser or through Android App (DSub), and the settings are nowhere to be found on the web UI.

This is very frustrating as a paying subscriber for years.

I honestly don't know what you mean by that. Did you delete and rebuild the database?
If not, than I would suggest you'd try that.

Yes, I deleted the files from C:\Subsonic. I'm going to attempt this again, but I'm going to start out on 6.1.2.

I think this may have something to do with 6.1.3 deciding a user doesn't have the rights to play files and view settings. Which is weird, because I definitely set it up yesterday, giving my custom user admin rights and the rights to do everything in Subsonic. So I suspect there is some glitch where the newest version is still viewing this user as not having the proper privileges and revoking them at some point.

Have similar issue

Admin has lost its privileges.

I cannot get to settings to enable it back.

I am on a Mac. Any ideas?

You could try restoring the database, which means:
Stop the Subsonic service
Copy the content of folder Subsonic\db.backup to Subsonic\db
Start the service.
If that doesn't solve your problem;
Stop the Subsonic service
Delete file Subsonic.data (which is your database) in the folder Subsonic\db.
Start the service.
You will lose all your settings, users and comments and you'll have to configure Subsonic from scratch.

tried all of those but no luck--any idea where the user config file is and i can make the changes in there?

What OS are you using?
Sure way to solve the problem (regardless of the OS) is to uninstall Subsonic and install it again.
