Database size 2Gb issue

Postby SplanK » Tue Mar 06, 2018 3:10 pm

Hello,
I have been running SS for years, however every now and then I encounter a database size issue where its reaches 2GB and whilst I can log into the web client and view content, I am not able to play any video or audio, add any new tracks and my Subsonic app (dsub) has a bit of a fit and will only play cached content.

In the past, ive followed this:
https://dpedu.io/article/2015-08-01/sub ... corruption

Where you change a flag in a file and it recovers, jowever it no longer seems to work. Attempting to run the DB cleanup doesnt appear to do anything either.

The last time this happened, I ended up starting again (complete uninstall and re-install, including new database) thinking there was something iffy with the original database. However today, it has done it again.

In the log, I will eventualy get errors surrounding update queries as per above link.

Log as it stands however after restarting the service a short while ago:

WOHO - fixed it!

navigated to https://addressofserver.com/db.view

I ran command SHUTDOWN COMPACT

This compacted the database down from 2GB to 16MB

Restarted the Subsonic windows service and all is good with the world.... until next time that is but at least I now have a fix!
