Can't connect to server

Postby Scootman1911 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 9:55 pm

I can't seem to get Subsonic to connect to my server when I'm not connected to the Wifi in my house. I used to use Subsonic a few years ago and got everything setup and working fine on my phone and on my work computer. I stopped using Subsonic for about a year and now that I'm trying to use it again, I can't connect. I still have the same router and home computer and both are still setup to forward the ports that Subsonic is using but as soon as I'm off my home network, it doesn't work.

Maybe something's changed since I last used it and I'm overlooking something?

Does your server still have the same ip address as one year ago?
Did you setup the portforwarding manually? ( That's the best way to make sure it's done correctly.)
What does Subsonic's network status say? ( Settings > Network > Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address.)

I believe I still have the same IP but I guess there's a chance I did something that changed it. I did set up the port forwarding manually though.
If I check the "Auto Port Forward" box, it says its registered the domain and that the ports I've assigned are forwarded. If I uncheck the box, it says port forwarding disabled and can't connect to the server.

Seems to me that your server doesn't have the same ip-address anymore.
There's a website called : https://status.ws/
What does it say when you check the "Auto Port Forward" box?
And what does it say when you uncheck the "Auto Port Forward" box?
If the website keeps telling you that your server is down, I would just delete the existing portforwarding in the router and set up a new one, making sure that it actually points to the correct ip address.
If you are running Subsonic on Windows you can find the correct ip address by running ipconfig.

I just deleted the port forwarding and started over and with the Auto Port Forwarding unchecked, it says "Router Found," status.ws is showing it's up, it registered my web address but, turning off wifi on my phone, I can't connect to the server.

Now, when I check Auto Forward, it says Router Found, it can't register the web address, but status.ws is still saying it's up.

Edit:
Wait, so like 4 resets later (without changing anything), it seems to be working. Guess I didn't wait long enough before restarting the server. Hopefully this means I can view my whole library at work now.
