Nothing Random is working

Hi, great looking software. However, a couple of things that appear should be working are not. when I click on "home", it shows what should be a random list of albums, at least that looks like it on the screenshots. all i have is a blank page with the word random albums, and a drop down for how many albums to show. nothing else in that middle pane. also, clicking "more" then asking it to generate a random playlist just clears whatever's playing and says "play list is empty". This is on centos 5, standalone.
I verified this behavior on safari, firefox on ubuntu and IE on windows XP.

here is the log for that operation:
11138377 [btpool0-67] INFO org.directwebremoting.impl.DefaultRemoter - Exec: nowPlayingService.getNowPlayingForCurrentPlayer()
11148455 [btpool0-68] INFO org.directwebremoting.impl.DefaultRemoter - Exec: nowPlayingService.getNowPlayingForCurrentPlayer()
11150012 [btpool0-68] INFO org.directwebremoting.impl.DefaultRemoter - Exec: nowPlayingService.getNowPlayingForCurrentPlayer()
11150390 [btpool0-68] INFO org.directwebremoting.impl.DefaultRemoter - Exec: playlistService.getPlaylist()
11150461 [btpool0-68] INFO org.directwebremoting.impl.DefaultRemoter - Exec: playlistService.getPlaylist()

is there a way to increase debug levels to see what's failing?

Do you have music showing elsewhere and anything showing when you click Newest or any of the other views?

My artest foldrs all seem to show up on the left nav. if i click on an artist, i almost always get a list of albums in the middle pane. if i click on the play icon, or add icon that works. music plays just fine with the in-browser player. I don't expect it to be 100% because my library is a massive collection of albums, some ripped with itunes (to mp3), some actual itunes songs, most were ripped from cd using a linux program and lame to put them in mp3. many of the id3tags might be problematic, as well as the naming. I expect most albums to not have artwork, though some does seem to be showing up. It's mostly the "generate random playlist" thing that i'm most intersted in fixing.

to your other question, none of the links on that "home" page bring up lists of albums in the middle of the screen.

just to make sure and dont take this in a bad way, but have you done a scan?
this in: Settings, Search, Update search index now.

ah, not offended
:D
and no, I had not done that. I'm now seeing "The music folder is currently being scanned. All features are not yet available".

Is there a documentation link I'm missing? I'll let you know if I still have issues after the scan is done. Thanks!

ah, perfect....that's exactly what both problems were. It would have fixed itself tonight at 3 am and i'd have been mightily puzzled tomorrow!
