Okayy guys i have found how to fix this error :
-Go in /var/subsonic/db and open subsonic.propreties.
-And simply add a 0 for cache_scale.

I don't know if is good but it's worked. All my playlist are here !
My file:

#HSQL Database Engine 1.8.0.5
#Sat Apr 21 20:15:37 CEST 2018
hsqldb.script_format=0
runtime.gc_interval=0
sql.enforce_strict_size=false
hsqldb.cache_size_scale=80 <=== i have add a 0
readonly=false
hsqldb.nio_data_file=true
hsqldb.cache_scale=140 <=== here too
version=1.8.0
hsqldb.default_table_type=memory
hsqldb.cache_file_scale=10 <=== and herre
hsqldb.log_size=500 <=== modify by 500 for just test ^^
modified=yes
hsqldb.cache_version=1.7.0
hsqldb.original_version=1.8.0
hsqldb.compatible_version=1.8.0

I think is the limit of database, so i multiply this capacity by 10 ^^

I encountered this same error last week but was leaving town for a week and didn't have time to research solutions. I'd trying restoring a backup of /var/subsonic to no avail. I returned home this morning to find your solution, and it seems to have done the trick for me!! Thanks so much for posting this!

Same here after upgrade Ubuntu from 17.10 to 18.04. Change Java back from 10 to 8 (openjdk) did the trick.

update-alternatives --config java

0 /usr/lib/jvm/java-10-oracle/bin/java 1091 automatischer Modus
1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-10-oracle/bin/java 1091 manueller Modus
* 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java 1081 manueller Modus

thanks for that "alternatives" - i'm making a new box on Ubuntu 17.10 and nice to know some ways around what crud I might have to deal with here. :)

I changed the cache configuration, and I selected my most current java version (7, requested when I was installing subsonic 6.1.3), but I still get the 503.

Hi, i've upgraded my linux ubuntu t o 18.04 yesterday
I find the same problem : error 503 Requested URI=/

I completedly reinstalled subsonic after "apt-get purge subsonic" and deletion of files in /var
I still get the problem...

When i get a look to java alternatives I get :

Code: Select all
sudo update-alternatives --config java

Sélection   Chemin                                          Priorité  État
------------------------------------------------------------
  0            /usr/lib/jvm/java-10-oracle/bin/java             1091      mode automatique
  1            /usr/lib/jvm/java-10-oracle/bin/java             1091      mode manuel
* 2            /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java   1081      mode manuel

Any clue to help me ?

Hi all,

I have the same problem, I decided to switch the (not maintained ?) Subsonic to a light (Alpine) Docker environment, it's working very good!

Here the image I have used: https://github.com/marcopaganini/alpine-subsonic

Steps :
Code: Select all
sudo apt remove subsonic
# now, add a user and group "subsonic" with uid 10000
sudo chown -R subsonic: /var/subsonic
docker pull mpaganini/alpine-subsonic
docker run \
  --name "subsonic" \
  --detach \
  --publish 4040:4040 \
  --volume "/var/music_on_host:/var/music:ro" \
  --volume "/var/subsonic:/var/subsonic" \
  mpaganini/alpine-subsonic

You need to edit this line :
Code: Select all
--volume "/var/music_on_host:/var/music:ro" \

thank you so much! After searching around everywhere, this solution finally did the trick for me!

I'm now on my 2nd time of this happening in 2 months. The first time the edits above to subsonic.properties did the trick. This time, no. I also tried copying the script file, removing the db dir, then replacing the script file, and this also didn't work.

1) Is it unreasonable to expect developer support since it's a paid app? This problem seems common enough, the person taking our money should be making an effort toward fixing the problem, no?

2) Are there any viable alternatives to subsonic? I search periodically as I hate to rely on such a flaky app, but since the demise of Audiogalaxy, I've found no other viable solution for hosting one's own music collection

3) I restored /var/subsonic from a backup, to no avail. Are there additional dirs I should also restore that might rectify the situation?

4) Barring satisfactory answers to 1, 2, and 3, how would I best complete uninstall subsonic (linux mint 17) so I can start from scratch and hope for another couple of months of use of this app I've paid for?

thanks.

Hi,

Using WIndows 10 (latest version) on PC hooked up to Sonos.

Today I got the
HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE

RequestURI=/subsonic

Powered by jetty://[/color][/b]

Tried to update software, to no avail. The solutions discussed above, don't seem to fit me. Not a total novice, but not deep into coding or changing things. Do I just delete and reload or is there something I am missing. Help Help, I need this working for a weekend get together. Many thanks in advance!!!

After trying the solutions above (and those mentioned in my post previous to yours) and still receiving the 503, I completely uninstalled and started from scratch yesterday. So far all is working as expected. It's certainly not an ideal solution, but apparently in this case it was the *only* solution. I do wish there was another viable means for streaming one's own music collection, but having found none, I may just have to live with starting from square one every couple of months.

I uninstalled everything, and then reloaded the software. I get everything in the start menu, but it still gives me the
HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE

RequestURI=/

Powered by jetty://

when I try to "open subsonic" from the start menu. If I could get it to open I am sure I can reset everything up. Feeling frustrated that it will not open the thing up.

Thanks in advance for any help

Did you just do the uninstall? Or did you search for any files/folders left behind and remove them as well? Prior to uninstalling, I searched the entire hard drive for any files/folders with subsonic in the name. After I did a "completely remove" for subsonic from the package manager (I'm on Linux Mint 17 btw), I looked through to find they hadn't all been removed by the uninstallation. In my case, the /var/subsonic directory (I'm not sure what this would translate to on the windows installation) had been left behind. I manually removed that prior to reinstalling.

I don't know if this would make any difference in your case, but it's the only thing I could think of.
