Subsonic, Synology, Sonos and FLAC

Hi!
I have Synology and Sonos. Most of my library is flac 24/192. I want to listen to not mp3, but flac 16/48. How do I set the transcoding to 16/48 flac. Unfortunately, I did not find the full instructions on the forum.
Thank you.

I have the same question. Is there anyone who could answer it? Would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I transcode my files to 24bit/48khz FLAC, and they play losslessy through Sonos.

From Sonos support: "Hi everyone, great discussion all around. Version 7.2 has an updated FLAC library which, as a happy, unexpected side effect, allows for some decoding of higher resolution FLAC tracks. This isn't official support or intended, so I'd just say be happy and enjoy. We aren't planning on updating any supported codec pages or listings at the moment as this isn't fully supported or tested out. "

the original poster asked for 24/192, which sonos does not natively support.

as for 24/48: you are correct - with one caveat: sonos only truncates 24bit to 16bit instead of transcoding it.

and any sample frequency > 48kHz is still unplayable.

here's a transcoding string that works:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -b:a %bk -v 0 -sample_fmt s16 -ar 44100 -f flac -

replace 44100 by 48000 if you want to max out your sonos' capabilities.

Unfortunately, you are wrong. look at the log. Encoding is 320 kbps. This corresponds to mp3.
Try this command here.

ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -b:a %bk -ar 48000 -ab 2000000 -ac 2 -f flac -

In this case, pause and rewind do not work. :(

thank you!

two questions:

- where do i find the info you referred to in the log? been reading the log, but can't figure out where the info is
- is there a way to transcode to lossless AND keep the ability to pause/rewind?

Part of log you can find "About Subsonic"

I don’t know how to fix the pause and rewind. Support Subsonic for the past two months is not responding. At the same time they want money for the renewal of the subscription.

thank you. and very strange. why does it constrain the bitrate to 320K if no such thing is written in the transcode string?

if anyone reads this: pelase enlighten us. thanks :)

I wanted to buy a lifetime subscription, but the info info@subsonic.com support doesn’t work for such minor issues ....
I think the problem is the purchase of this program.

My premium subscription has ended. I do not want to listen to mp3. It sucks. There is no manufacturer support. Support spits on users. Subsonic and Sonos cannot play well without problems. I will buy this product when it starts to work efficiently. Good luck to everyone on this forum!

Hi, would you kindly let me know what the source of your FLAC Files is?

My friend is DJ and records mixes. Does it somehow affect the transcoding performance?
