Subsonic and DSD

Postby pieronip » Fri Jul 13, 2018 8:08 am

Hi

Firstly, thanks for a great product which is working well for me with all my FLAC files.

I would like to ask whether Subsonic can be used to stream .dsf (DSD) music.

I have searched this forum and the Web and have seen conflicting information.

I am streaming from a music library on a WIndows 2012 server with playback via Foobar2000 which is set up to be able to play DSD, which it can do when playing files directly. Following Internet advice, I have added 'dsf' to the list of file types in 'Settings - General' but, despite rescanning the music library, I do not see any of the DSD tracks. I can see the album title but it will not open to show tracks. Output is via an iFi nan iDSD BL DAC. I have switched off transcoding.

Is DSD possible and, if so, what have I missed?

Many thanks.

My server's down at the moment, but here are a couple of things you could try:

1. Simply added ".dsf" in the "convert from" field in the Subsonic transcoder entries.
2. If that does not work, create a new entry and try to modify the following:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i input.dsf -ar 192000 -acodec flac output.flac

(from: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/454 ... icks-noise)

IMPORTANT: you'll need to modify this, so for sure, "input.dsf" will need to be replaced with "%s" (sans quotes), per the Subsonic Transcoder Settings documentation:

http://www.subsonic.org/pages/transcoding.jsp

Sorry I could not be of more assistance with the exact setting, if #1 does not work. Again, I don't have my server available to try this out.
