Hi,
Is there a way to see what each user is playing. I love the most recently played section but would love to know what my friends are playing specifically.

This is really an amazing program.

Thanks

Dave

You can look through the log (see the help tab for location) but that is about it.

Example:
[5/6/09 9:05:30 AM CDT] INFO StreamController Starting stream username@IP.IP.IP.IP:35539 (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; MS-RTC LM 8))

[5/6/09 9:05:30 AM CDT] INFO PlaylistInputStream Opening new song /music/Our Music/Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers/Greatest Hits/07 Even the Losers.mp3

I think there have been requests to add the ability to find this info easier and an ability to show who played a song last in a future release, but nothing in the current release.

I'd also love to have more specific stats on what's getting played.

you could write a simple script to parse the subsonic.log file... I haven't been able to give it much time, but something like this would give you a list of the folder heirarchies being accessed (and therefore the songs) for a given USER:

Code: Select all
grep -A 1 "Starting stream USER" /var/subsonic/subsonic.log | awk '{ FS = "/" } /new song/ { print $5"/"$6"/"$7 }'

(you may well have to adjust it slightly for your own folder structure, log file location, etc..)

does anyone know how to prevent the subsonic.log file from getting cleaned out periodically? or at least how to send it somewhere where it could later be analyzed?
