SSL & Ubuntu install

Postby Bristow » Wed May 06, 2009 6:28 pm

Hello ;)

I've installed my Subsonic on my Ubuntu computer with standalone installation, and if i've well understood, i've a Jetty server.

Now, i'd like to use SSL protection on it.

Do you have a tutorial for this ? Is is difficult to do ? Is it possible ?

Thank you again for this software :P

Hi Bristow

SSL streaming works, but there are some issues regarding the internal redirect while using SSL. It is fixed in the next release 3.7 ( more details regarding the problems and solution here: http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1301)

For info on how to setup SSL with Jetty you could look at this link: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/JETTY/ ... figure+SSL
Currently without Subsonic due to hardware failure :(

Thanks for links jigsaw

Is there a date of release for Subsonic 3.7 ?

And, will it be difficult to upgrade my version 3.6 ?

I read Sindre mentioning that we might see a beta release shortly. ( the exact term I guess was in a week or two, and that was two weeks ago :) )

Upgrading is a piece of cake. Just drop the new tar.gz in the same place as you did the first time, extract it and restart subsonic.

PS: If you have done any modifications to the subsonic.sh or something like that you might want to make a separate copy of that and do the same modifications to the new one.
If it's a vanilla installation you do not have to do anything :)
All settings, statistics and so forth are stored in the database which persists an upgrade.
