Ignoring file name case (and album art question)

Postby nny » Thu Nov 08, 2018 6:51 pm

Hello! New to subsonic and love it so far. I'm having an issue though in regards to file name case. Basically, is there a way to ignore case?

E.G. There is a band named toe that stylizes it lower case, but on Last FM it's upper case. The ones that are upper case show up for Top Songs and such, but not the lower case.

Is there a way that it'll treat both "Toe" and "toe" the same?

Another example would be an album "What It Is to Burn" - tagged as "What It Is To Burn" on my computer and didn't show up until I lower cased the t in to.

Lastly, some album art is up and some is not. Is there something specific that might be causing album art to not automatically be grabbed? If I edit it, it shows me a bunch of pictures from Last FM but I don't want to go through each one and pick a cover. I'm kind of assuming it's a case related thing again, hence it being an add on to this question.

Thanks for any help :)

Last FM is very strict in names.
If they decide that he band is called "Toe" than they'll ignore "toe". Same goes for songtitles.
Since this is not something that Subsonic controls there's no way to change that.
The only option you have is to tag your songs to match the Last FM lists.
As to coverart:
Subsonic doesn't automatically update the coverart anymore as it did in some previous versions.
Subsonic can read embedded coverart or a an image file like jpg jpg jpeg gif png.
I noticed that Subsonic experiences some difficulty with image files that are too large. ( In dimension and in file size.)
I found that for best results the coverart image shouldn't exceed 600 x 600 pixels. Filesize for image files on my server are in average 100 KB.
You must know that Subsonic just picks the first image file in alphabetical order it finds in your folder.
So if you have 2 image files in a folder back.jpg and cover.jpg Subsonic will use back.jpg as the coverart image.
You can check your logfile when scanning the folders. If there's something wrong with image files Subsonic will show it in the logfile.
