Ratings disappear if file is moved

Hello,

I'm still testing this wonderful app :-)
It seems that the ratings (starred files, favorites) are linked to the directory in which are placed the songs.
Example :
song 1.mp3 in directory /MP3/A : I click on the star to make it favorite
I move it into /MP3/B : the star isn't yellow anymore ; the song disappears from the favorites
I move it back into /MP3/A : the song is favorite again, yellow star

This is really annoying. Does it mean that If I decide one day to order my music collection differently (move some mp3s in other folders, rename them ... ) all my ratings and favorite songs will be lost ?
Is there a way to backup these starred songs nformations ?
Thanks

not easily. This is a problem in other libraries as well, including moving your files from one iTunes library to another, because the 5-star rating system wasn't standardized into ID3 (the tag system within mp3 files) until very recently and most media management systems still presume it doesn't exist. When I moved all my stuff across machines in iTunes, i managed it by using the grouping tag to store 1 star 2 stars etc, and then use smart playlists to find those again to add the stars back, per something i read thanks to google.

but within subsonic, unless you do some work with the db view, there's not much to help.

sorry,
J

so yes, there is a way, but it involves knowing a bit of SQL and experimenting before you move things.

Thank you for your answer acroyear.
I don't know how the song database is handled into Synology Audio Station but if I move songs from a folder in another one, they keep their ratings. And without having to tweak anything in any SQL.
In Subsonic if I move files they are considered as new songs. It's a no go for me. I think I'll continue using Audio station
