I have setup a Subsonic server as a test for comparison to Plex or Emby because I really just want a mobile streaming service for music.
I would like to have a app on my Windows 10 notebook, kind of like Plexamp, and it looked like Musicbee might be a good fit.
The problem is I cannot get Musicbee to work properly, it often says if cannot find a directory which make zero sense. Maybe it is not designed for remote streaming?
1) How can I get Musicbee t work
2) Is there a small compact palyer (non-browsers) available

It looks like the subsonic plugin for musicbee has been discontinued and removed.
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/apps.jsp is pretty much all that is published so far, and yes it looks like several haven't seen many updates.

there are smaller, more "app" like web apps, including (shameless plug) my own. I've not tested SubFire on Edge lately (i'm just waiting for the Chromium version, no point fixing bugs for an already dead browser), and i do know of some minor issues on Firefox I need to go back and look at but i've been busy with other things lately.

Yes from what I can tell most apps are dead or have not been updated in years
I thought there was a plugin update for Subsonic and Music Bee which I have tried with no success.

look for the ones at
https://subfiresuite.com/ - those are the ones actively maintained. i should update and redirect the older player domain.
m2 has a 'mini' mode (when running as a standalone window) - after you start playing there's an option in the right-side menu to turn it into a simple square album cover to reduce the screen space it uses.
