Huawei P30 Pro Phone Default Music Player Supports only mp3

To the Developers of the Subsonic clients,

I haven't had any problems for years with Subsonic until now, mainly the client software. Recently, I upgraded my phone to the Huawei P30 Pro and I am unable to play my music. My music collections are not in mp3, but rather in different lossless format like wma, flac, and m4a, etc. My previous phone supported all those formats and so I have configured on the server side in the player settings to NOT use the mp3 transcoding. That worked fine on other androids and my previous phone. Now the new Huawei P30 Pro only supports mp3 on it's default music player. I'm assuming that the Subsonic client and all the other 3rd party clients use the Android's default music player. So I downloaded another alternative music player to my phone thinking that I could force that player to be my default music player, but that did not work. So my question, If the subsonic clients can be configured to use different video player, why can it give the option to use another music player for audio? Can the client be easily changed? And Yes, I questioned my new phone as to why the biggest Chinese company can not build a music player on their phone to support other audio formats. Anyway, just want to throw that out for the developers.

Seems strange that the decoder support on your phone is limited, have you checked what codecs are installed, an app like this would tell you https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... pplication .

If you're limited to mp3 why not set transcoding for the player running on your phone in subsonic's settings so that it streams mp3?

Thanks for the reply, just wanted to let you all know that I'm very knowledge on testing software. I have tested codecs from the playstore, but it did not work. The real issue is that the stock music player for the phone cannot use them as it's stuck on mp3 only. Huawei admitted that, and they claimed other audio format was a copyright thing. So I'm assuming the other company did not allow them to be used on Huawei's product. Also, the whole point is NOT using the TRANSCODING. It beats the purpose of streaming it raw. The Transcoding part is working fine, and I have no issue with that. This whole question is more about the Subsonic clients be able to select other 3rd party audio players to be used under the client. Just like the video player option in the subsonic client. You can choose the default player or 3rd party player like mx player or VLC player.

So i would suggest DSub https://github.com/daneren2005/Subsonic/releases to load the free apk direct from Github is safe, because every one can read the source code ...

Have you ever tried subfire suite you can find information here at the board? I'm not so familiar with android,

Thanks for the reply, but I believe all of the subsonic clients for android use the default audio player from the android built in (stock) music player. Correct me if i'm wrong. I tried them all, Dsub is one of the players I used. That's why I pose this question for the developers to maybe add the option of choosing the audio player to use under the Subsonic clients

I am wondering what you think what Sindre Mehus can do, if Huawei has a problem. In options, Transcoding, there you can add another transcoder ... but it seems that wouldn't help.
another, and in my opinion the best way is to post your problem at github as an issue https://github.com/daneren2005/Subsonic/issues since there are other people reading too it is more effective than here.

And again, for help we need the Version, the OS and the settings you are using, to have the Logfile could help to investigate, which phone, what Hardware version, which OS Version which language.

One of the reason why you don't get help ....
