Subsonic taking wrong cover art

Just upgraded to version 6.1.5, and now Subsonic is suddenly using graphic files from the folder directory -- if there are any -- rather than the art embedded in the mp3 tags.

I've tried changing Settings > General > Cover art files to simply folder.jpg, then tried leaving the field entirely empty, to no avail. I've tried deleting the entire subsonic\thumbs directory. I've tried rescanning the media folders and turning the subsonic service off and back on after those steps as well.

Any ideas? This obviously isn't a huge deal, but subsonic seems to be taking the first graphic file alphabetically, which often enough in my case is the back album cover rather than the front.

Thanks!

Subsonic doesn't rescan the folder if nothing is changed. So, if there is no reason against it i.e. Backup, you should change the Date of the entire files to actual time and date. I don't know which OS you are using but google should help.
At windows I'm using Total Commander it is free ...

Well, since I don't know why Subsonic is prioritizing the graphics files over the embedded artwork, it seems unlikely that changing filedates would make any difference. But thanks.

once again as long nothing is changed in a folder, subsonic is still counting but nothing happens.
You can change the type of cover or the name in settings as much as you like, if nothing is changed in the folder nothing happens. Since I have always a folder.jpg or png I have only that type in the settings. I don't know what happened to your system, but here every other than folder.jpg is ignored, is the music file not propper tagged I get the default subsonic pic.
There are a lots of questions like yours here in the group and you will always find the same answer.

dude I have literally been using Subsonic for a decade longer than you have, unless you are Sindre himself

I appreciate your effort to help (seriously)! but at this point it's more a question of whether I need to completely uninstall > reinstall than hope that a changed filedate will spark a renaissance

Yeah, may be you are using subsonic for decades, but that says nothing, the problem is in most cases round about 40" in front of the screen.
Read this .... but you can still ignore it and do a clean setup :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The scanner will not notice a file changed if the folder doesn't, and the folder doesn't change unless the number of files in it, or the names of those files, changes. If you just change a file itself, the folder object (on the file system itself) doesn't notice anything different.

To get the folder to be different so the scanner looks at it, you can either rename the folder, scan, rename it back, scan again (then "clean up database"), OR you can create a text file in there that the scanner will ignore, but will signal that the folder needs to be looked at. Both are tedious, of course. The text file hack is safer if you have playlists.
