How do I move to a new machine?

I apologize if this question has been answered before. I've been searching the web and the forum to find it and I'm failing miserably.

I want to move my subsonic to a new machine and I want to preserve all logins, playlists, etc.

The last time I moved subsonic wasn't even to a new machine. I moved it to a new hard drive in my Mac Mini (like literally cloned the hard drive to a larger hard drive) and I lost all my playlists. It totally sucked.

Oh, and I moved my library from my ~/Music folder to my Dropbox folder and I lost all my playlists again.

Can someone please enlighten me? Is it possible to move subsonic and preserve everything including playlists? If so, how? Or, sis there a procedure documented somewhere that I'm just not locating?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This questions are coming from time to time, but no one knows .... even MAC seems a bit special ... sorry
If you are pointing to the online Dropbox, I guess that will not work, even the local folder is in most cases only a shortcut

Supposedly you can copy the DB file and preserve this, but I've found that process unreliable. Instead, I wrote a Perl script to back up my playlists to M3U files each night. Should the Subsonic DB become corrupt--it happens from time to time--or if I need to reinstall or move, I can simply import the playlists and they all remain intact. The caveat is that I need to keep the music file path the same. One could also edit the M3Us to update the paths as well.

Anyway, here's the post where I document the usage:
