m4a reported as 3:50 but only plays for 2:17

Then when I use the built-in player, it flashes 3:50. Then it goes to 0:00 and quickly interates up, stopping at 2:17.
Other songs show the same pattern, but with different final lengths.
The track plays the full 3:50 in the MacOS Music (formerly iTunes).
The install is standard. Haven't changed the ffmpeg settings.
In short:
Track is 3:50.
After a time, it shows 2:17, and only plays for 2:17.
SubSonic issue
Problem Description: Track duration wrong: It first shows the correct time, then goes to 0, then goes up up up and stops at 2:17 (the track is reported in the main interface as 3:50)
