Subsonic 616 Unable to Install again on DS218+

Postby cearu » Fri Jul 03, 2020 1:31 pm

Hi all,

I am unable to reinstall Subsonic. I removed it because I couldn't open it any longer after restarting my NAS.

Is there perhaps a way to remove every file from previous install? There might be a conflict?

That is not a subsonic issue, i guess you have to remove it manually ....

read here ...
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/356 ... n-synology
I guess you know how to delete files and folder ...

another possible reason.
have you read the note at github?

Notes

This package creates a user called subsonic which is visible in the DSM user interface, you should grant this user access to your music folder. The subsonic server also runs under this user account.

You can start / stop / restart the subsonic server through the DSM Package manager. To update to the latest version just grab the spk file from the release page here and do a manual install through the DSM package manager and it will update.

I have installed GateOne. Where do I find the folders I should be removing for a clean install?

I don't have a Synologie NAS, I have to use a search engine like you can do by your self ...
My only decision is to try to help.

I have read the script, found here ...
https://www.synology-forum.de/threads/s ... -ds.24820/
because I'm german, the first hits are german, but the script is english.

So it seems there is a folder 3rdparty and inside that folder subsonic, delete that, but keep care, stop the server first, otherwise you probably can't delete.
If you can read and understand that script, there is no need to remove the user subsonic, because you will try to install again.

This command will delete the Link out of your Packet manager, but because different versions, I'm not 100% sure.
Code: Select all
rm /usr/syno/synoman/webman/3rdparty/Subsonic

The best way is to ask in a synologie forum, because it is not a subsonic issue. It is related to your NAS
May be my hints are helping, but as before I'm not shure, but it is pointing in the right direction.
Good Luck.

thanks! I was able to reinstall through removing the folder you mentioned.

for posterity:
remove the failed Installation in the Synology package manager
in GateOne (or any command line program) login with your username/password
Enter sudo -i for root access (otherwise you won't be able to remove the necessary folders)
Enter rm -rf /usr/syno/synoman/webman/3rdparty/subsonic
You can now reinstall the .spk-file through the package manager
