Staying connected

Postby ashwooi » Wed Mar 31, 2021 9:51 am

Hi there,

I'm new to Subsonic and I'm running it on an iMac (Big Sur 11.2.3). Really like it but for some reason it disconnects and I need to restart it. My iMac settings should keep it running but clearly something is going wrong. I'm not hugely technical so any advice would be much appreciated before my free trial runs out.

Cheers

Ian

Sorry, no real help. I just want to encourage you to keep trying. I run Subsonic on a 2012 Mac mini (Catalina) and connect to it from my iOS devices and my MacBook Pro (BigSur). Runs flawlessly. Other than settings for my media my Subsonic settings are default.

Only thing I can think of is your iMac's Energy settings.

Hi there....thanks for that. Having trawled through posts it feels like it's an app issue that impacts both iOS and Android. I'll keep trying and see how I get on. Did find a post that refers to port settings so I'll have a look at that. Thanks again

FWIW, I have used Subsonic for many years. Many OS versions, many iOS versions on many devices. The only connection problem is when the IP address would be changed. Configured a static IP and have not had a connection issue since. Only port issue is when you want to connect from outside your local network (i.e. any other network, whether cellular or work/school/whatever). In these cases the port must be forwarded. But it's not a connected, then not, then reconnect thing.
