Subsonic on Seedbox

Hi there,
I currently have subsonic setup on my seedbox however cannot get it to connect to any apps.
It is currently setup on the local host port 4040. Do i need to run a command to open up that port to allow connection from my app?
Apologies - I am very new to all of this and have googled the life out of it but cannot find any solution
