sigh...lost 30% of my songs

Postby acroyear » Sun Feb 27, 2022 8:20 pm

(but only in subsonic, the mp3s are fine)

I had a network hiccup happen between the box hosting my music drive and the box hosting subsonic, a pretty bad one, in the middle of a scan. I didn't realize it before I 'cleaned up database'. The result is that Subsonic has lost almost a 3rd of my songs. The folders are there, but Subsonic keeps returning them empty. No scan will recover them unless I change a parent/ancestor folder name, which of course means that even when the files come back, all the playlists are broken including many of my "radio stations" which (to save space in the comment and work faster on load) only store the IDs of the matched assets.

Basically I'm going to have to just wipe and rebuild my entire library from scratch.

Not really asking for help, just needed to rant a bit.

yes, I am exporting what playlists seem to have survived. Maybe their m3u8 modes preserved files even if they aren't in the DB anymore.

You might find that if you change the files dates then it will re-read the files as it will think there new/changed I use TouchPro for this sort of thing https://www.jddesign.co.uk/ it can be set to recurse all the flies in a structure.

I know changing timestamps works, either on folders or files. But it still registers as a 'new' song or new file and the clean-up still wipes the old info out of the playlists.

I'll be alright. Gave me an excuse to do some folder restructuring I was hesitant to do.
