database "lost" after a restart

Recently I moved my subsonic server installation from old laptop to a newer server (both are linux mint). I noticed that after a reboot I need to re-scan all the media folders. While this is not a deal breaker and I do not intend to reboot the server very often it is a bit of nuisance. I've been using subsonic for years and never had this problem on my previous installation. Both are linux mint, but the old laptop may not have all the latest system updates etc.

Any ideas?
