Streaming video content

I have looked over the entire forums multiple times trying to figure out how to get my divx files to play on a consistent basis. I can get them to stream sometimes, but it can take about 10-15min for them to get going. I have tried everything people have posted in:

And the suggestions of links by Jigsaw on the above link.

What I have used that works inconsistently for divx is

avi>flv (step 1)ffmpeg -v 1 -i %s -f avi -s qvga -b 256kb -aspect 16:9 -croptop 60 -cropbottom 60 -ab 96kb -

and /or

avi>flv (step 1)ffmpeg -re -y -i %s -ar 44100 -f flv -

Again, the results are hit and miss and will sometimes begin playing or sometimes not at all.

I have no problem at all streaming mpg video, that seems to start very quickly, I would prefer not to convert all my divx, xvid to mpg video.

try this:

ffmpeg -re -y -i %s -f flv -b 320k -s qvga -ar 44100 -ab 64000 -ac 1 -

and use an external player, e.g VLC.

Let me know if it works.

Thank you tom_22, but it still takes some time for a stream to start even using VLC, WinAMP or CoreMediaPlayer.

My current settings are:

Name:avi>flv
Convert From: avi
Convert To: flv
Step 1: ffmpeg -re -y -i %s -f flv -b 320k -s qvga -ar 44100 -ab 64000 -ac 1 -


Am I missing something else? Do I need something specific in my transcode folder?

Hm, it could be related to the data-throughput. So, what about the network-setup?

Do you stream within a Intranet (1Gb/100Mb/10Mb) or through a DSL line?
