Hey all I'm quite new to subsonic but am loving it already! I have been playing around and managed to get as far as being able to access my tunes using my computers external IP address.. very cool! To make things that much cooler I would love to be able to use my own custom domain so I don't have to remember my numeric IP every time I want to get to the Subsonic web interface... here is a copy of a question I posted at the Google Apps support forum (where I got my domain from):
What I would like to do presently is find some way to link my current domain that is associated with google apps (iplh.org) to my computer's unique IP address such that when people enter my domain they are redirected to the web interface of the music streaming program (instead of having to enter my numeric IP all the time)
What I envision being able to do is set-up a subdomain.. lets say http://music.iplh.org and when someone plunks this in the URL bar they are directed to the music streaming server that is running on my personal computer.
With the help of a friendly eNom agent I was able to create the subdomain in my host records section on the DNS settings... I basically made a new entry called "music" and put my IP address into the address bar... the problem I am encountering now is that I am not able to include the specific port that Subsonic needs to go through... when I try I get an error saying this is not a valid address.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in setting up this type of thing. I'm not terribly experienced with web hosting or DNS or any of this stuff so I can use all the help I can get!
Thanks in advance!
