How can I get a mono output?

Does anyone know how I can setup Subsonic so that all of my output is mono? I'm sure I managed to get this to work, but have lost my settings somewhere along the way, and despite trying to recreate them I just can't get it right.
So frustrating as I can only hear half the music....
