that depends on what webserver you are running on where you put it.

look in to Apache.
just google it, you are best off setting that up first.

Are you looking to have a link within the subsonic interface that links to another page? Does that page already exist?

Yes, just a link from the main page and yes it does it exist. Just don't know where to place the file. I am used to IIS.

What is the benefit of installing apache?

What web server is subsonic running by default?

Thanks for the help.

Well you can just put your webpage in the subsonic\jetty\webapp\ folder where index.html is and then point your browser to the same url as you go to subsonic with but replace the end of the URL with the name of the page.

So http://mysite:88/subsonic/main.html instead of http://mysite:88/subsonic/index.view?

I tested this and it does work.

if you install apache you can then use ssl as well.
but you can do that using iis.
but then iis is really bad.

Error

Postby dwmd65 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:59 pm

Interesting. That is what I was trying and it failed so I assumed I was placing it in the wrong folder.

If I put a txt file in there it works but if I place an htm or html file in there I get a jetty error.

HTTP ERROR: 404

NOT_FOUND

RequestURI=/new.html

Powered by Jetty://

Any ideas?

Honestly I am not sure why you would get that error. You are reaching the Jetty service so you would think the file should be delivered if it is under the right name.

If I type the name of a file that doesnt exist in that folder I get

Code: Select all
HTTP ERROR: 404
NOT_FOUND
RequestURI=/music/poo.html

Powered by Jetty://

but if I put the correct path it works fine.

I agree with Don that Apache gives you a lot more flexability. I also run it and use the proxy service like Don does. I haven't taken the time to go SSL yet.... :)
