Streaming out of control - using all available bandwidth
I'm using subsonic 3.7 standalone on Ubuntu 8.04.3. I'm using the external player option. It works fine with the following exception. When a song starts playing (in the external player) the status page shows the data transfer rate much higher than the bitrate of the song. So, for example if I play a 128K mp3 the status may show 700 or more. Also, when the external player finishes playing the song it doesn't play the "next" song, instead it plays two, three or more songs ahead. The playlist and now-playing in subsonic just keep advancing as fast as bandwidth allows.
The subsonic.log also shows that the songs are advancing to the next songs before the external player is done playing the current. So, for example, if I have 10 songs in my playlist I might only get to hear two or three of them before subsonic thinks it's done with the playlist.
I've tried various external players including VLC (both linux & win), WMP (win), WinAmp (win), XMMS (linux), and Amarok (linux). So, I don't think it's the player.
How can I fix this so subsonic streams the songs in real time?
I'd really like to get this to work because, AFAIK, the external player is the only option to get random/repeat of the whole collection.
