Can the modified date be changed from its current format of month/date/year to date/month/year

Yes, change language to UK English in Settings > Personal.

Done it thanks keep up the good work, one other thing can the message box be turned off, and any not wanted messages be deleted?

In the next release you can disable the chat messages. Furthermore, messages older than a week will be automatically removed.
