Create Own Layout?

Postby deejay2302 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:44 pm

I testet what. And although I wanted to create my own layout. For this I wanted to rewrite one of the existing layouts. But once I change an icon, place it back automatically. Why is this so? And how can I change this?

My idea would have been: a complete background and the background colors of the menus transparent. Thus, one could see the whole design.

If a thing possible or not?

I work with Photoshop CS4 and would therefore like to create my own style.

Go or not go?

Hi deejay2302.

If it's possible - sure. I've made the "Cool & Clean" theme by doing what you're attempting; changing backgrounds and icons. You'll need to know some html and some css, but it's no biggie really. As far as I know there's no how-to out there, but search the forums for topics concerning "themes".

Or just simply browse through your Subsonic install structure until you stumble upon theme references and go from there...

HTML is not the problem. The only problem is CSS...a little bit^^

My question is, what are the files to create or change the styles?

Hi.

In your install directory (assuming Jetty) \\%Subsonic_home%\jetty\1130\webapp\ there are several subfolders you need to have a look at.

The \icon folder contains theme icons in subfolders
The \style folder contains the theme .css files
The \WEB-INF\classes\net\sourceforge\subsonic\theme subfolder contains theme .properties files which is sort of a theme look-up for the above structures.

You also need to add your theme name to the themes.txt file in the same directory.

I would recommend making your own set of files/folders and isolate these in the event of future Subsonic upgrades as the file structure will be overwritten. Have a look at some of the existing themes and go from there. If you have any questions on specifics, just PM me and I'll try to sort you out.

Happy designing
