Clear or restart chat window

Hi all,
Is there a way to clear or restart the chat window? I'm running the version 3.8.beta1 (build 1064) – October 2, 2009.

As of 3.8, which was released today, messages are automatically deleted after seven days.

Ok, that's nice that it will clear after 7 days, but what if someone posts something inappropriate? We have to wait 7 days for it to clear. I think a clear now option would be nice.

You can also stop and restart your subsonic server in a pinch.

Restarting server doesn't seem to work for me

Me too. Server restart does not delete chat.

What I want is for the chat window to keep all the messages until I delete them. I have missed quite a few messages because I haven't logged in to check on a regular basis. I have relatively few users and would even be happy to have email notifications of any messages posted.
