G4 power pc

I have an old G4 ppc that I would love getting subsonic running on. However it has os x 10.3.9 currently installed on it, which does not have the proper java to run subsonic. Can anyone offer any options for installing a newer java, or maybe a linux to get this to work?

Any way to upgrade to 10.4? I have it running on my old ass 400mhz G4....using Lingon to initiate the startup. Works great.
You can always try Ubuntu as an alternative:

Thanks, knowing 10.4 works might help. I have a 10.5 disk, but it is scratched and I am trying to repair it. Also it is a dual layer dvd and I think I only have a cd, so if I can get it readable, I still have to cross that bridge. I might be able to get my hands on a 10.4 disk, but having the ubuntu option is may be my only hope.
