I have been at this for a few hours and cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect the Android app to my laptop. I have gone through enabling port forwarding and creating exceptions in my firewall. Still, whenever I try to connect I get the "socket is not connected" error on the app. I have my default port set to 80 and according to a port testing site, it is open. Also, I read in a similar post that someone solved the problem by creating a static NAT on their router, however whenever I try to do this I am told it is an "invalid static route!" no matter what I type as the address.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem? Or perhaps a step-by-step walk-through of how to link the app to my network? This app sounds great, but the work involved to actually get it working and the lack of instruction have been extremely frustrating. Anyone with any help whatsoever would get a million cool points in my book.

ok, I figured it out. I was trying to use my internal ip address instead of my external as my server address. but now that I am connected, I cannot figure out how to find my music. My directory appears to be fine, but still nothing shows up. What is the directory supposed to look like to find just "my music" folder? Do I need to do something on my phone? On my desktop? What do I do?

I'm in worse shape than rrosback. This is not as simple as finding your internet ip and plugging in into the android app. Can anyone provide an easy basic walk through for linking a droid with XP? TIA

I found the portforwarding site....very helpful. I think I followed the instructions (D-Link DGL-4300), but I still get "Socket is not connected" error.
Windows firewall is disabled. I opted for port 8888 in router setup. Do I change the port setting on the PC subsonic to 8888 or leave at 80?

That's how I had it set...8888. Socket is not connected. So I got rid of the port forwarding and reset everything to 80...same problem. Went to dnydns and made a name, just in case at&t changed my wan ip. Then set router to be pingable. I can ping the DNS name and the wan ip, but couldn't ping either with the 8888 port tagged on. Could this be a NAT setting in the router?

OK, I'm out. Just noticed everything recodes to mp3. Apparently the droid doesn't play any lossless codecs..... Oh, well. Thanks for all your help though.
