Music changes pitch within a song as song plays.

First I want to say - NICE System. I have been trying to find a system to set up my own podcasts and stream my own music for some time now and SUBSONIC is great.

I am having an annoying problem though - my music changes pitch within a song as a song plays.

Is there maybe somewhere I can make a change to the buffer or something, to correct this? It sounds like I am playing an CD and placing my finger on and off the disc to slow it down as it is playing - normal to slow then back to normal pitch.

I know nothing about subsonic but the first thing that comes to my mind is what file format is your music, and what bit rate? Have you tried transcoding to a lower bit rate?

MP3 format. Not sure what you mean about 'transcoding'

My songs are MP3 format. I do not knwo what you mean about transcoding. Is this something I can do through Subsonic? or can I re-code the MP3s?

Yes, transcoding to a slower bit rate might help if you are having bandwith problems. But it seems strange that a bandwith problem would manifest itself by changing the pitch of your songs...so maybe that's not your problem. Usually when I have that problem the song breaks up and don't play completely.

Now I am having issues where the song stops then restarts. It is very annoying. I cannot hear a song all the way through without it stopping then restarting.

After reviewing re-creating a transcoding to remove the VBR setting from another post I was able to remove ALOT of the issue where songs are restarting and skipping to the point where I can at least listen to a song.

Every song playing stops and skips at 17 seconds, then I am still getting the PITCH changing in the song. It is almost as if the song starts at a higher pitch, then at 17 seconds it restarts then the pitch goes down and stays at like 80% of songs normal pitch. :?

I've had weird things like this myself.
I had an album I listened to often that suddenly each song was showing up as twice the time, for example, a three minute song would show up as a six minutes and each song had that much time of silence after it actually ended.

I've also had files that Subsonic plays, but thinks the file ends at a certain point, (where it really doesn't), and stops the song at that location.

I'd love to know what that's about.
