Music Directory Problem

Postby colli419 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 9:13 pm

Hi all:
I recently updated my computer to add more storage capacity. I created a software raid with linux out of convenience and then put all of my music on that drive. The problem is now that I have my music somewhere other than the /var/subsonic folder it can't seem to see it. I tried to make a symlink in the /var/subsonic folder but subsonic says that no music folders are found. I am sure that tomcat6 (I am using tomcat 6.0 not 5.5) owns all of the files in the music directory as well as in the /var/subsonic folder but it still says that it can't find any music files. I have also tried a direct path to the music on the raid drive with /media/Vault/Music but it doesn't see this either. I am afraid I am making a stupid mistake with this or that it is simply not possible. If anyone has any ideas it would be most helpful. Thanks!

Can't you go into Subsonic's Settings and specify the path? More specifically, like /shares/music? I have no shares or whatnot under /var/subsonic. Mine are located on a mounted share like /shares/video and /shares/music. Then I go into (Settings | Music Folders) to specify direct paths to them on the server.

Thanks for the reply Aethies. That is exactly what I wanted to do but for some reason when I changed the settings in subsonic once it was running (read: through the web browser interface), I would simply get the error that no music files were found. What I ended up doing was mounting the drive to the subsonic folder which worked fine. Though it really is not ideal, like I said in my previous message I might be doing something dumb but I am not sure what it might be. Thanks again for confirming my suspicion that it is possible to do it that way. It is especially interesting because it would appear that our software setup is nearly identical...
