Subsonic and Windows Home Server Problem

Built my own WHS, and had Subsonic up and running for 1 month with no problems. I was able to use the same URL to listen at home and at work.

I haven't made any configuration changes since then, but I'm now unable to access Subsonic from outside my house.

If I go to http://xxxxx.homeserver.com:8080 from inside my network or outside my network, the connection times out and nothing loads.

If I go to http://xxxxx:8080 from inside my network, I get the proper login screen

If I go to http://xxxxx.homeserver.com from inside or outside my network, I get proper access to the Windows Home Server website. So if this works, why can't I access the Subsonic login screen?

There is no firewall running on the Windows Home Server. I'm not sure what troubleshooting steps to take next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that the andriod app puts a 30 day trial on the server for using the andriod app. Any relation?

Subsonic isn't a plug-in/app, so it shouldn't cause any problems. I appreciate the brainstorming though, so let me know if you can think of any other possibilities. Thanks!

I'm trying to contribute to the brainstorming:

Did you check that the port forwarding settings for Port 8080 in your router are still the same?
Did the IP of the WHS changed?
Login to your WHS, change the port of subsonic, set the portforwarding in your router and try again.

Thanks for the help! Somehow the IP address got changed for the port forward rule in the router. Fixed that, and it is now working just fine.

Hi usedsubmarine, I too have built my owb whs and am scared about what to load onto it! I love the sound of subsonic, but can you tell me if you just used the standard windows installer on whs, or did you use the standalone java server? and do you stream to android at all?

I installed Subsonic on both of my servers, ones WHS the other is a Server 2008 R2 box. Both work fantastic with my 200GB library! I then put the Android app on my Sprint EVO 4G. Drop it in my car and connect over Bluetooth to car audio. All my music available anytime anywhere I get cell service. Phone saves settings for as many as three servers.

Best use of a cell phone I've ever found!!

thank you

:D It's working fine on an old xp home, so with the endorsements you two have given, I think it should be all fine. It's actually my wife's android i want to stream to, no idea what version, and i reckon it can do a lot more than email, texts, and phone calls (!!) thanks very much.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. Yes, the regular Windows installer worked just fine. I'm getting ready to donate to Subsonic because I absolutely love this product in combination with my Windows Home Server. It just works! No hiccups or problems since my own user error that caused this thread to be created. Best of luck!

This is a dream setup for me! Oh for the day when I can finally get a new car and a decent smart phone. Thanks for the inspiration!
