IE8 and FF crashing with large playlist

Postby baxtr » Sat Feb 13, 2010 4:33 am

First off, Awesome program, thanks for all your work on it!.

I am using version 3.9, and there is one file that it is having issue with, I have one folder which has 1000 songs in it, its a top 1000 of all time collection. Whenever I attempt to "play all" it takes a bit, which I would expect while adding that much to a playlist, but then pops up that IE has stopped responding, and freezes up so badly I need to use a taskkill command. FF has the same issue. At times a popup comes up saying that a script is running, causing the browser to run slow, but doesn't say what script.

I know the easy answer is to not put that many songs in a playlist, and that is fine with me if that is the only solution, but thought I would ask if there is something that can be done. I have split the 1000 into 10, 1000 song folders, and can play each of those seperately (takes a bit to populate the playlist, as to be expected) but cannot play all 1000.

I use this on my own personal computer, but have also tried it on a purchased server, thinking that maybe just the speed of the connection was lagging, causing the freeze, but happens there also.

Thanks for any info/advice......even if it is "don't use that album" :)

thanks again for a great program.

Edit: ok, thought splitting worked, but even with that album completely removed, something is crashing it occasionally, don't know how to get a log of what is happening either. It seems like it happens on a "refresh" of either the albums, or the chat, or ???? not sure.

Large playlists seem to freeze IE and Chrome

I'm also getting script errors and freezes when I load large playlists. Small playlists seem to work fine. My 40's music playlist for example only has about 50 songs. Loads right up. If I try to load my 90s music playlist (several thousand songs) it hangs and I get 'script not responding' warnings in bout Chrome and Internet Explorer (Haven't tried fire fox yet).

Is it that you just can't load a large playlist? It would be the end of the world if I can't but it would be nice to be able to.

I have been using Chrome for some time now, I like its simplistic layout but it doesn't seem to crash at all, yes it still takes the time to populate the list that big, but it does work, I haven't tried IE9 or FF 4 yet
