Subsonic as a web hosted jukebox?

I am looking for an app that will integrate into my website.
On the website, I would like to have all of my personal compositions listed.
I want people to be able to pick and choose what compositions they would like to listen to, in other words, a user definable play list. You know, sort of like an iTunes interface, where you can check the songs you want to hear from the large list, then iTunes will toggle through playing those songs.
Then, it would be nice for people to be able to download the compositions chosen on their playlists.
Will Subsonic do this. If not, does anyone have any suggestions. I can't find yet what I'm really looking for.
Thanks

what do you mean by compositions, a list of songs in a defined order (playlist) or just songs? subsonic could be set up with guest account and only streaming rights, then you could set up predefined plalists for users to load plus they could put together their own tracklist in current player.
not sure if i understood you correctly, but basically if i did, yes subsonic could be used like this. check out the
demo on the subsonic homepage for a realtime view of what it can do.

Compositions, songs, whatever. Some are instrumentals, so not really "songs." No singing.
No prearranged order.
From all I can tell, Subsonic is a program that is installed on one's own PERSONAL COMPUTER. I'm not wanting it for that. I'm wanting it to be the Music Player on my own website.
I'm wondering if it CAN be used as the Music Player on my website. You open my website, and, presto, there's the Subsonic interface with various playlists of my own music. Pick a playlist, or pick and choose whatever you want to hear from the various lists, and let it play on your computer.
Will it do that?

I checked out the demo, and, yes, this is exactly what I'm looking for.
That is, if I set it up with my own playlists? Can I edit the interrface - the one in the demo is pretty busy, a little confusing for first time visitors.
If this is doable, and if I can learn how to do it, then I'm sold.
Thanks for your help, and I look forward to progressing.

well, about putting it on a webserver, that depends on the provider i think, it shoulod be possible though, since the weserver is also only a pc. you'd have to ask them if its possible to run a java app with access to the internet (one port). the question is, will the provider do this/what will it cost...
aboout the interface, you could make it simpler, but this involves fiddling with text files and config files, no easy task and probably involves much testing to not break functionality. what you can set for your users inside the subsonic settings dialog are permissions for streaming, download, rating and comments, playlist creation and editing.
