Problem with m4a transcoding in Windows

Postby Billxor » Tue Mar 23, 2010 5:14 pm

So I have been casually using Subsonic for a while and have been loving it. But I recently added a bunch of *.m4a files to my library and am now running into trouble.

When I try to play any of the *.m4a files the web player doesn't do anything, and the external player never buffers, or just skips the song completely. So basically nothing happens.

I am using all the default settings on version 3.9 (build 1335), server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_17, Windows XP. I am using the default transcoders (whatever came with the Subsonic installation).

Thanks,
Bill

This happened to me also. On the Subsonic server machine FAAD.exe had crashed. I installed the Nero decoder instead, and it worked.

I think I downloaded the right thing, the Nero Decoder pack with three *.exe files (the decoder, encoder, and tagging program). And I copied those into the C:/subsonic/transcode folder, but now how do I set that up through the Subsonic program?

Sorry, I thought I made it work, but it didn't. The files don't play back.
