Embedded Player Not Working

I can't get the embedded player to work from web access.
When I play any song, even though my settings are for the player to be Web Player, I get a download prompt for an M3U file that I have to open with Windows Media Player (or whatever).

I am using Windows XP.

Any suggestions?

I had this happen to me today! I finally found that my problem was the player that was starting was the android player instead of the web player even though I was logging into Subsonic via browser. For some reason Subsonic would always use the android player for my user id! I confirmed it by noticing that the user agent string and timestamp for the player was not current as it should have been with me connecting via browser - but the android player had the user agent string for firefox and current timestamp!! I tried rebooting the server, reloading the pc's flash and java.. nothing would get the flash player to load.

I worked around this by creating a new mobile user that I only use on android and deleted the "android[username]" player that was associated with my normal user id. So now only "player#[username]" players show under my non-mobile user id.

Now the flash player loads correctly every time and I just make sure the android app uses only the new user-mobile id to connect.

I am new to Subsonic (just started using it yesterday - and already donated :D) but thought you could have multiple players per user without issue. I would think you can and this might just be a quirk.. maybe it is documented and I just didn't know about it yet.

Great streamer though.. so much fun to play with!

Hope it helps!!

same here...

same problem here. the server is 9.04 linux.

On Client Ubuntu LInux (9.10) - Firefox or Chromium :

*The flash web player won't play any sound, and there's no progress on the bar, or anything else really.

*Additionally, when I try to read a playlist with VLC, it plays 2 seconds then stops, which kinda sucks

[*Finally, on my iTouch, Z-subsonic can't seem to be able to find my server, which also kinda blows] ------- > probelm fixed itself somehow. I think it was a funny firewall issue :)

On Client Win7:

*flash player works like a charm
*VLC plays one second

=> So, does anyone have any idea how to fix any of it?
Someone Somewhere seemed to suggest augmenting the RAM subsonic can use, but I can't find where to do that.

Thanks a lot already :)

I have the same issue from Ubuntu.

I also found that if I make a randomized playlist from the "More" menu page, the internal player does not work.

If I go directly to an album and click play all the internal player works great under Windows.

Subsonic 4.0.beta1 solves the problem with the Flash player not working on Linux browsers.

Before I try the beta, does it fix the issue too, with the built in player on the More > Random generated play lists not playing with the flash player?

If your web browser is running on a Linux computer, then yes.

If I remember correctly, after create a random playlist on the "More" page, you have to click on the first song in the playlist to actually start playing. Have you tried this?
